Stop Using These 16 Terms to Describe Yourself

 Picture this. You meet someone new. "What do you do?" she asks.
"I'm an architect," you say.
"Oh, really?" she answers. "Have you designed any buildings I've seen?"
"Possibly," you reply. "We did the new student center at the university..."
"Oh wow," she says. "That's a beautiful building..."
Without trying -- without blowing your own horn -- you've made a great impression.
Now picture this. You meet someone new. "What do you do?" he asks.
"I'm a passionate, innovative, dynamic provider of architectural services with a collaborative approach to creating and delivering outstanding world-class client and user experiences."
All righty then.
Do you describe yourself differently – on your website, promotional materials, or especially on social media – than you do in person? Do you use cheesy clichés and overblown superlatives and breathless adjectives?
Do you write things about yourself you would never have the nerve to actually say?
Here are some words that are great when other people use them to describe you – but you should never use to describe yourself:

The stupendous self inflicted ignorance evident in our society today, is to say the least, very embarrassing. It is an irony,  that our forefathers’ primitive and illiterate society seemed to have handled their affairs more intelligently, better than this so called ICT compliant generation. Despite  all of these, we are still walloping from one conflict to another, inhumane vices and of recent national ineptitude as is the case with Nigeria.

 
Our leaders have become opportunistic greedy models, rather than institutions of principles, responsibility and accountability. And the shame of it all is that the populace loves it that way. This is most evident in the way and manner we excuse their habits.

Like Benjamin Franklin once reflected, “Too much talk cannot fill a bushel”. As Nigeria attains another dooming grey hair, as i begin this maiden voyage towards setting the mind free from existing chains of ignorance.

May we be direct enough to tickle and provoke the worthy mind.  Bon Voyage!
